Exclamation Automatic tranny improvement? Please?

I have an 82' automatic RB headers, RB presilencer, fiero fan, and to top it all of... an auto tranny. Ive heard some people mention changing the gearing on it. WHat/ how is this accomplished? I have access to a complete shop and pros but i want to know what this is. Like switching the rear end? I would love if the car would shift at 8k instead of 5k as well. Suggestions help would be appreaciated.

and u said your car shifts at 5 k?, i used to mash on it and as long as the kickdown button clicked it would go to about 6.5k
ho and one other thing
you will not benifit even with a modified automatic tanny, the reason is
the rotary has low torque, and autos only perform well with higher torque, honestly the only way to go is a 5 speed
