Unhappy Automatic Antenna.

I want the auto antenna removed from my 79 (7) but I am having troubles getting the darn thing out. not sure which bolt or screw to remove from under that inner back passenger panel. I ended up removing two nuts, some kinda pin, and another middle something, that all dropped into the fender so i cant describe them really. anyone ever remove the antenna ? I cant get it to budge either way even after removing and screwable screwy nut or screw lol.. umm, erm help ! ty in advance.

Well, there might be an easy way to do it, but if there is I am not aware of it. When I removed mine, I had to actually disassemble the antenna itself so that it came out in a couple of pieces. Hope this helps.

Wish I can help but thankfully the previous owners were nice enough to tear the antennae off and put it in the car, so Im looking at the install of a new one

Hmmm...it's been many years since I had mine out and back in, but I don't remember it beiong that big of a deal. I know for sure that I took it out in one piece.

Damn! Wish I'd known that when I pulled mine out. If I'd had a saws all I'd have been using it. 'Twas a very frustrating event for me...

Why are you taking it out, is the motor bad? I'm looking for an antenna mast if you could get it separated from the rest of the assembly.

On my '80, there were just two bolts to remove and the antenna came right out. It does help immensely to take the right taillight out and it is easy to do so I would reccomend doing that. It should not be that hard, and you should not have to disassemble the entire antenna. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Is the mast all in one piece, with the plastic piece coming all the way out of the bottom? I don't even know if it's possible to just change out the mast. It seems like it would be way cheaper than changing out the whole thing when my motor works fine.
