OH Autolite Spark Plugs - OK As Stop Gap Measure?

Hey 7club, quick question. My car is sputtering pretty bad, barely idling, and I think it's a miss with the spark plug. The only problem is I can't get the NGKs in my area for about a week. I called up Advance Auto Parts and they said in their system they have some Autolite 2226 plugs that say they're for the 1.3L GSL-SE. Would these be an OK stop gap? I'm probably gonna buy 2 and put them on my leading until I can pick up the NGKs. Thanks!

Owing to the general definition of stop-gap. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/stop-gap

I used to use them, way back when; they don't very last long, they foul up fast. But they will run the car.

the autolites may come pre gapped. you may want to check with a feeler gauge or spark plug gauge before install. the general opinion around these parts is that the autolites are garbage and most wouldnt run them in a toilet.. if you are in northern ohio, i have several NGK sets and i can spare a set that we can throw in your car until your new set arrives.

They'll work for a little while but I wouldn't waste any time or money on that junk. They do come pre gapped at around .060" depending on the plug, I'd set them around .020". They seem to have a consistent gap from the hundreds if not thousands I've put in. I couldn't convince the owner of my last shop to ALWAYS BUY NGK. Every time I had one come back misfiring with autojunk plugs I would try not to laugh at him as I put in a set of NGK's.

Have you only tried Advance Auto? Napa, oriley, autozone, etc should have them. If not you could probably order them from Iron Pony(motorcycle/offroad shop, I get my plugs from here, B8EG's) in Columbus and have them at your house in less than a week.
