There were two wires that I wired together to engage the solenoid. In the post I had stated that each wire was black with a yellow stripe. I don't remember exactly what color the shielding was that I had to cut. I did wire the two together and it sent power to the solenoid when when directed from the ignition switch.

the car is complete and running great. i'l lpost pictures up here tonight or first thing in the morning. i pulled the trans and removed the 79-82 flywheel and clutch assembly and replaced it with the proper 83+ flywheel and clutch. the flywheel is from an 85.
hey! I’m currently in the middle of the same swap! Do you remember those measurements for that adapter plate? I’m gonna try and make it this weekend so Monday my trans can go in

I've did this swap on my 1985 GSL. I first tried using a 3/8 inch place to span the gap (about 5 to 5.5 inches between mounting holes) and it was a fail. There is too much flex. I then found a scape 1985 and removed all the spot welds on the manual trans body mounts and had my neighbor who is a pipefitter TIG the new mounts in. I'll get a pic of the finished mounts. Here is one removing the extra brackets. I now how both auto and manual trans mounts on my RX-7.

I don't remember the measurements off hand but I do remember that there was too much vertical flex in the trans mount over bumps. I ended up selling the car but I remember that I was planning on adding some lateral stiffening bars.

The best way to do it is what KansasCityREPU has done and actually weld in the manual trans mounts to your car where they would normally be on a manual transmission equipped car.

I’m doing the same swap on my ‘79. I have a manual tranny mount, won’t that just bolt up?
Engine is out for car painting so I’m not to that reinstall point yet.

The 1979-1983 auto and manual share the same mounting points. It's the 1984-1985 auto and manual have two different mounting points/unibodies.
