auto meter water temp installation?
There isn't one that will fit the autometer sender, If your not using your stock choke you can get an adaptor and put it in the choke thermostat hole on the water pump housing, or like I did drill and tap a hole next to that on the thermostat housing.

And yes, I wouldn't bother with that adaptor that goes on the upper rad hose, reading the temp on the engine itself is much more useful information.

Be carefull, that thread is 1/8" BSPT not the 1/8" NPT that your sensor will be. The pitch difference is 27 TPI verses 28 TPI. I have heard guys having zero problems then again I have heard of guys that could never get it to properly seal up.
The proper way to do it would be to use an adaptor. McMaster Carr part number 4860K141 is what you want.

is it a given you can't use factory sender and auto meter gauge ?
i have wired mine up like this...i get the usual reading on my stock temp gauge and i get a reading of around 80 degree celcius on my auto meter gauge.
