One question: What throttle cable did you use? I need about another 4-6 inches. Do you need to somehow make your own? I have heard that possibly a stock S4- N/A throttle cable will be a perfect match, can anyone verify? Finally got the car running and now I need to get her on the road!

Thanks

Yes you will need to make your own or use a GSL-SE/S4-5-6 cable. All fuel injected RX's have longer cables.

I made my own, using a brake cable from a bicycle. Went to a bike shop, got 8 feet of cable and a sheath for $3. Cut the cable to length and went to town.

You don't need to make your own.
A 2nd gen throttle cable works great. Get the NA because its not quite as long as the TII. I went with the TII and its waaaaay longer than i need. I couldn't find any used cables locally so i had to spring the $50 for a new one from the Mazda dealer.

BTW, what carb are you using? I got me a Weber 45 DCOE.

Jeezus I would be interested in seeing pictures of how you fabricated the throttle cable. I was thinking about using bike cable but I wasn't sure how everything would go together.

AverageJoe I too have the Weber 45DCOE

What type of air filters are you guys running? There doesn't seem to be enough room to use a K&N.

I have to do some digging for some pictures. I am back to a nikki, after having the OER and holley.

The air filter i'm using is a K&N 3 1/4 inch. It's a VERY tight fit. About a millimeter of clearance. I suggest getting anything that is under 3 inches. I have to practically destroy my filter to get it off.
I'll get some pics of my setup tomorrow. It's too dark out right now.

81gen1- I have adjusted the cable out all the way and I need more. I can hook it up but it ain't pretty. It kinks hard at the firewall. I definately need at least a couple of inches.

AverageJoe- how long are your airhorns? The ones that came with my weber are almost three inches long, so a 3.25" filter would be way too small. I could get smaller airhorns or go with the screen filters. The ones from Pierce manifolds seem pretty good. They claim to filter down to .09 microns. Also what cable setup do you use?

I'm not using any air horns. I would suggest getting smaller air horns instead of using the screen filters. That's my plan.

I'm using the TII setup. I'll post up some pics to show you how long it is tonight. Get an NA cable. It won't be as ridiculously long as the TII.
