Atkins Rebuild Kit "A" - Display and Questions

Hey Guys,

I figured this was a more technical side-post from Project Keiko that I've been posting over in the Nontech section.

I opened up my Atkins Rotary rebuild kit today and wanted to make sure I understood all of its contents. I came up with a few unknowns so I thought I'd put the kit on display and get you guys to help me identify what I'm missing.

It's the "Rebuild Kit A" meaning it doesn't have any hard seals. No apex seals, side seals or corner seals come with the kit, which is why it's the cheapest of the three. Other than that it is *amazingly* complete.

Here is an overview picture of the entire kit:

Here are the inner and outer coolant seals:

Here is the oil pan gasket and the front cover gasket:

Here is the intake manifold gasket and exhaust gaskets:

Now that last pic I do have a question about. The largest metal gasket is obviously the exhaust manifold-to-engine one. I'm guessing that the second largest one is for the exhaust manifold-to-first-precat but the tiny one is for what? the air tube for the precat?

Here are the side seal springs, apex seal springs and the corner seal springs and rubber inserts. It was really a nice touch how Atkins includes the much better 3rd gen corner seal springs even in their "budget" rebuild kit "A".

And here's where the REAL questions start. Let's try identifying the o-rings.

Single very large o-ring: I don't know
Single "largest of all the small o-rings" : I also don't know
Two o-rings on the second row : Intake Manifold Coolant Passage O-rings
Four o-rings on third row: Dowel pin o-rings
Two o-rings on fourth row: I don't know
One o-ring on fifth row: I don't know
One o-ring on sixth row: I don't know

In the bag are the inner and outer oil seal o-rings for the rotors, and below that we have the pilot bearing and seal and a tube of Hylomar

More pictures and questions to come momentarily

Here we have the front and rear seals. One goes on the front cover and the other goes in the rear stationary gear:

Here we have all the washers for the tension bolts (funky half metal half rubber ones, really interesting!) and above that the gasket for the Air Control Valve to the Intake Manifold.

What are the copper washer and two accompanying aluminum washers for?

Here we have a bunch of different gaskets. Now the two at the top look the same to me. I know that one of them goes on the air tube at the back of the intake manifold, but I can't imagine you'd stack both there and I don't recall having a second spot for the second one...
The red one is for the OMP, the yellow with all the holes seems to be for the Altitude compensator on the carb, and the blue one is for the water pump.

So what are the two small brown ones for? (2nd row, 2nd gasket and 4th row under the yellow alt compensator gasket)

So that's all I've got. Let me summarize my questions in a sec

Identify these:

1. Smallest Exhaust Gasket
2. Single very large o-ring
3. Single "largest of all the small o-rings"
4. Two o-rings on fourth row
5. One o-ring on fifth row
6. One o-ring on sixth row
7. Copper washer and accompanying aluminum washer
8. Difference between black and yellow gaskets in top row
9. Grey gasket to the right of the red OMP gasket in the 2nd row
10. Grey gasket in the 4th row underneath yellow gasket

Go to town guys, let's identify these gaskets and O-rings!

The small exhaust gasket is indeed for the air pump tube that runs to the cat. That's the only one I can help with at the moment though

the Smallest Exhaust Gasket might connect to the cat where it is supplied air too.

The 2 gaskets in the last post... I am somewhat confused what you mean. The 2nd row, right side gasket looks to be OMP related, probably OMP to Iron gasket.

Not sure on the other gasket though.

Copper washer is for the the front excentric shaft bolt
Small washers are spacers for the waterpump housing
2nd row 2nd gasket looks like the one for the oil pick up tube

I'm all out, can't recognize others.

Go to town guys, let's identify these gaskets and O-rings!
1. air tube at the cat

2. rear stationary gear

3. dizzy?

4. oil pedestal to block, if you keep the beehive, need 4 of them. take one of them to the parts store and match it.

5/6. One of them is for the front cover to front iron main oil passageway. Most likely the fatter one. Not sure of the other one, may be for the MOP but don't quote me.

7. e-shaft bolt as stated before, washers will be for the wp housing, only they are 0.0020" thick.

8. no clue, not sure if it really makes any difference other than the gray gaskets tend to be softer and crush/seal a bit more. Yellow ones are stiffer and take survive better in the heat.

9. oil pickup tube to block, fingers crossed, lol.

10. shutter valve to intake

There are usually leftover gaskets to cover differences in the model years. good luck.

What pissed me off about atkins rebuild kits is that there is no cone attachment for the hylomar.. you just take off the cap, and the bead it lays is way bigger than the water jacket seals themselves
