Assembly fan drive question

I recently bought an original Mazda RX7 fan drive assembly for a second generation RX7 with a 12A motor. Didn't realize it wasn't the exact one for my 1984 12A RX7 1.1 but everything looked the same except when I compared it to MY original, the front clutch was actually a little larger and the mounting holes were just a tiny bit off. So, I ended up just modifying the holes and installed it. Have had no problems with it so far. WILL THIS CREATE ANY PROBLEMS?

original replacement

New 12a fan clutches are no longer available. If you bought a 13b fan clutch and modified the hub you could be running it off balance. Even if its a fraction it will lead to premature water pump, alternator, and belt failures. Thats my 2 cents. Its up to you. If no problems occur then we know that we can buy new fans for 1st gens again.

Did the original fan clutch fail (top picture)? Just curious.

Actually, no... the original is still working but I am in the process of starting to replace things and I couldn't pass up this one seeing that it's a NOS Mazda part.

Not sure but I tend to disagree with you a bit. Even though the mounting holes were very slightly modified, the actual bolt pattern on the hub (exactly the same) fit perfectly into the back and that's what seems to automatically line it up. the mounting bolts merely hold it in place.

thoughts?

not true, Mazdausa has some arriving at the end of the month, meaning that they actually sell them, and order more, i'm surprised actually.

the stock fan sits on the hub, like you say, and the bolts just hold it there, and it should be fine.

if its not centered on the hub, its dangerous, when the fan comes off, stuff gets broken!

That's what I thought... it's very secure and I made sure of that!
Thanks again for your input!
