apex seals

Hey I was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with an ebay seller called RX7 world? They have sets of 2mm apex selas for $199, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if they are any good? Let me know if anyone has an opinion.

If you own a first gen Rx7, you have 3mm apex seals... this applies to both 78 (over seas) and 79(us spec)-85 12a and 84-85 13b engines.

PS. I've been drinking, please correct me if I am wrong.

Never tried them before and I would be leery about buying something as important as apex seals from a manufacturer that is unknown around here. My best advice to you would be to get a set of Mazda OEM seals as they have been tested and proven to hold up for well over 100k miles. I have friends who have tried a few different and very common brands and I am very skeptical of their quality.

actually my brother-in-law has broken many OEM mazda seals. He now usually buys his seals from a place in Alberta. They are about $200 cheaper then mazda, but he has never broken one yet. The only thing different with these seals is that they are a straight cut on the top, not bevelled like the OEM ones. But yea I see what you are saying, if nobody here has heard of them, then they can't be a very good company. Thanks.

OEM apex seals cost approx $400 a set from Mazdatrix, which means your brother-in-law's seals cost about $200. When you tell me that they don't break, this means they're probably the Rotary Aviation Classic seals. Do a search on RA seals (both on their website and here in the forum). While it's true they are resistant to breaking, the general consensus is that they're very hard on rotor housings. If you're building a high power motor on the edge of detonation and don't plan to put many miles on it, they might be a good choice. If you plan to run the motor for more than say 10K miles, the OEM seals are a better bet.

Yes, I know that they are harder on rotor housings, but he has dynoed at almost 400 RWHP and puts a lot of miles on his car, and his housings still look very good. They have very very mild chatter marks on them but it hasen't seemed to cause any bad side effects so far. Anyway I have a new set of OEM seals to put in, I was just wondering if anyone had used these seals from RX7 World or not.

no actually I'm sure it was for a set not just individual seals, it didn't incluse springs but it I'm positive that he can get a full set of seals for $300.
