Anyone using 'tall' oil filters?

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I like the taller oil filters better than those short, squat ones. Talls are easier to get off, too.
Anyone use a brand of 'tall' filter?

I use a "tall" oil filter, holds a quart of oil and filters down to 10 micron.

Showoff! I use a purolator. Bigger filter means more surface area, and less bypass when cold. Think about it.

Hmmm...Overkill? Haha, just kidding man, but why did you have to go and show off like that. It makes us poor folk feel bad .

Im with Carl though, I use a Purolator, but just the stock RX-7 replacement size.

I did that cause it was all free (now I'm really a bastard) But really... the bigger the filter the more media area you have to filter and less pressure drop in the system. Also I wanted all the oil to get filtered as it passes through the engine instead of just the stuff that sees the e-shaft.

Anyone noticed how THIN the metal on the Purolator filters has gotten? I can't put one on with my oil-filter wrench without crushin' the damn thing. I'm using a FRAM filter right now, just because they're sturdier.
But I'll probably switch to a NAPA Gold filter next oil change.

I'm in the southern metro area. There is the North Star Rotary club. I'm not a member but do a search and you will find out how to join.

I've been using WIX filters. They seem to be built well. Heck WIX invented the spin-on filter. Anyway, I went to their website and they recommend the same filter for both the RX-4 and RX-7.

UPC Number: 765809513563
Style: Spin-On Lube

Outer Diameter Bottom: Closed
Thread Size: 20X1.5 MM
By-Pass Valve Setting-PSI: 8-11
Anti-Drain Back Valve: Yes

Gasket Diameters

I have been using the stock mazda one. I fugure they had to know what they were doing when they invented that. But I also used a fram for a little while. I was quite satisfied too because they're easy to take off.
I'm not ready to say that bigger filter are necessarilly better ... u can only get a certain amount of oil in and out a a time NE ways !
