Anyone use wheel adapters?

Wondering if anyone uses wheel adapters on their 7. Not sure if these things are reliable and trustworthy... always makes me nervous to add something like this. No plans for track use, just the street. Do I need to adjust wheel offset? Does it impact ride? Will the wheels fall off? Any real-world info is appreciated. Thx...

They're safe, but i doubt you're going to find wheels with enough positive offset to look decent.

Good ones are billet, machined, light, precise, balanced, SAFE. I have 1 1/4" spacer / adapters that made my widebody able to accept my choice of wheels and tires ( 245/50r15 rear, 205/50r15 front ) and also put them exactly where they need to be within the front and rear wheel wells.

Got me UNCHAINED from the ******* obscure bolt pattern and wussy availability issues we have with those patterns.

I crack up sometimes on this forum when somebody has some old **** rims and tosses it out for sale and all the vultures come running to take a look. and then hear "those are cool" or "they're just like mine". When really they looked like **** when they were new, but it's all we have that will fit. Or God forbid somebody has some panasports or rotor wheels. Yuck. Ewww.

Getting over to the bolt pattern of MY CHOICE was certainly the best 200 I ever spent.

i originally bought 4x114.3 wheels since i planned on getting a gsl-se. long story short i ended up with an 85 gsl with the 4x110 pattern.

the wheels are 17", and i plan on running the usual 205/40/17 tires. i hope that the adaptors to swap the pattern isn't going to make the wheels rub on the fender.

who uses the setup i just described...any problems? i may just swap my suspension to gsl-se, although i don't know if it would be necessary since i'll surely be getting performance shocks/springs anyways. anyone?

I run them on the front to fill in the fenders of my widebody and to change the pattern on my 12" Selectmaz rotors.
As a precaution,I used blue locktite on the inner studs/nuts to prevent walkoff, and I check the wheel bearings every oilchange to be sure.So far no problems at all, although I wouldnt recomend them for anyone running 79-83 wheel bearings. The outer bearing is very small and fails quite often on its own, with just the standard track width. Its easy to upgrade to later spindles and rotors,or even go GSL-SE for bigger brakes as well.

I did notice a marked improvment in response. The front end is very darty (go-kart like)when I turn the wheel.(helped in part by my slop free rack and pinion steering)
I got mine from an outfit in AZ called AimIndustries. They are very well priced and appear to be high quality. They list all the potential sizes and patterns they can make at their website. Its a very complete selection.

My car is stock... no widebody kit. Should I do anything to plan for twidth of the adapter itself? to ensure a good fit that doesn't rub fenders?

Yes,be sure you account for the width of the spacers before you buy wheels. The offset is going to have to be greater or youll rub.
Before the widebody,I ran 15X7 wheels with 12MM of offset, and it just cleared my fenders. If you get 1" thick adaptors then youll need to get wheels with about 37-38MM offset(assuming you run 7" width wheels)
