Anyone out there with Sa-22's??

Hey! Does N E one out there have Sa-22's? I just wanted to know, and I don't feel like hunting through stacks of profiles...
If you have one, include some stats and a pic if you have a picture of it... I wanna see some more sweet 79's 'cause I haven't seen enough...

I just picked up an SA yesterday .. it's an '80, and my second 7 (also have a 90 w/a dead engine). I used to have an 83 LE but had forgotten just how much fun these cars are! The 80 has a 13b carbed engine but needs new pads (brake) and a clutch .. eventually. The body's in excellent shape, no rust, dents, etc .. and 3-year old paint. Also, it's a 4 speed. I'd like to swap in a 5 speed tranny, but am unsure of years that'll bolt up. Seeing as how it has a 13b, should I go for a gsl-se tranny? Also, I'm not all that knowledgable on carb tuning, so if any of you have links to helpful sites, I would appreciate it! Anyways, here are some pics (awful quality, but you get the idea):

Well, I've got a '78 Japanese spec Savanna RX-7 in the original lime green colour. It's got right hand drive, a back seat, 5 speed, beige and brown plaid interior, Japanese fender mirrors etc. The car is in awesome condition and I'd love to post some pics of it, but I wont be able to snap some until the car comes out of storage in the spring . This is exactly what it looks like though... www.d-t-v.com/wyvern/carssa22c.html

Hey second7,
You should bring that sweet ride to our local meets. We need more first gens out there. Yours looks nice. Check out the South East forum for when we meet. We met last sunday at andreti's speed lab, but we usually meet on thursdays.

Hope I see you around.

These are some pics of my baby

Its a S3 1985 Finalie Mazda RX7 with 110,000 kms on the clock.

It has a 13B turbo motor pushing out 200 RWKW's or around 272 rwhp in the old language. Its got a front mounted stock IC and stock turbocharger so i believe its doint quite well for the package. Ive just fitted a full 3inch exhaust which has made a world of a difference!

theres a lot of other mods, cant be bothered going through them all now.

hey rotor7

Did you turbo charge the gsl-se or swap in a turbo II motor? I really want to turbo charge my gsl-se and could use any helpful info. What kind of intercooler do you have? Sweet wheels by the way.

we dont get the gsl-se down here in Australia... damn the heads at japan!

I ditched the stock 12A and put in a T2 motor (series 4 as its called here)

its a standard T2 intercooler stropped so its the bare core and tanks... front mounted with mandrel bent piping. works a treat!

SA-22 here translates to Series 1; 79-80 model years.

Nice FB you got though.

Hey Mark, I've actually been meaning to make it out to a meet for quite some time, but unfortunately Thursday nights are often my busiest (in terms of extracurricular activities). It'd be cool to come out and meet you guys though, so I'll try to keep up on the goings-on.

See ya,
Dave

Sa22c

Yeah, my car has Sa22c in it too... and of course, I'm in Canada.
Anyways, it's nice to see that I'm not alone out here in Canada, and it's also nice to know the fact that I'm not the only one with an Sa... or is it FB??!?!?!! Oh well...

Here's my car in a few colors (made in photoshop) that I'm trying to decide from (to paint). The original color is the stock blue mazda color, but it's black right now... Input would be great!!

Of course, I'm leaning towards the red :p Thanks in advance for your input,

Jeff

jay: if your car is '80 or earlier, it's an SA22C.

Like MINE!

Dead giveaway are the taillights and bumpers. SA taillights are two separate units with a kind of concaved spot between 'em where the license plate goes, while FBs have a panel there that makes it look like one big taillight. The bumpers are metal, separate and have black bumper-ends on SAs, and they're rubber fascias that are molded-in to the body on FBs. Basically, if an SA looks like a carved bar of soap, the FB looks like that same bar after a couple of showers.

Mine's not very photogenic, what with the rust and half-assed half-hearted half-finished body repairs done to it... it hauls *** but looks *** too. I dunno guys... my car is starting to fail the same way Max7's was (where the upper control arm mounts rip away from the body), and I have this FC begging me to put a bridge ported turbo engine in it, and seeing 89turbo2dutch's sweeeeeeet T2 today is only making the future worse for ol' WT...

Hi.

I have a SA-22 that sounds a lot like RXcetera's one. It's a 1978 Japanese import that did a 7 year tour of duty on the mean streets of Japan, before retiring to the rural paradise that is New Zealand.

It's now free to romp through the country, dodging the occasional stray sheep. "You're free now, girl! You're free!"

Bye,
ScruffyChimp
