Anyone know what this is?

I was driving my 84 gsl today and then i heard alot of loud thumping. I thought it was just backfiring bad but when i went to check it out. This was hanging underneath my car. I thought it was the parking brake cable but the parking brake works fine and it seems like some kind of wire.

All help is appreciated...

Uhh from the pic that looks like some sort of hardline with a rubber flex section or insulator.

Check for puddles under the car.

I think it is the actuator for the fifth and sixth ports. it runs from the exhaust to the lower intake manifold.

It was attached to a wire. The wire went into the black tube. A ground maybe? It was hanging underneath the driver's side seat.

????????

Is the fuel guage or the fuel pump working correctly?. It maybe a ground for that. But I would think that would run under the carpet on the drivers side and would come out further back. I would peel the protective sleeve back then find a wiring diagram for your year and look it up by color code..

pretty sure that is the o2 sensor and/or the thing that plugs into your cat. when i was under mine thats where i believe it went...yup just went and checked and it goes into your exhaust right after the cat, as in before teh muffler but after the cat. mine has two holes from what i can see but it might just be that flang but all i know is that it goes there at i would assume its o2 of exhaust overheat

My fuel gauge is fine. I tried to follow the wire and it seems the go into the floor so I am guessing it comes out inside the car.

Might be your flux capacitor. to test this you gotta get the car up to 88mph. The ride should get a little bumpy, then smooth out. Also the surroundings should look different. See, the problem is, you're not thinking fourth dimensionaly.

Maybe someone tried to put some c4 under your car to off you and they just had poor wiring skills.. I'm sure you'll trace that wiring to the ignition.. Just kidding.. I watch too many mob movies

It's the O2 sensor for the ECU.
It's fine.
The exhaust temperature probe that lights the dashboard "OVERHEAT EXHAUST" light is actually mounted to the floor under the carpet somewhere above the exhaust.
