I doubt Finger did the design... You need Finger's permission to use a copy of his signature, and the original designer's permission to use his design/layout, not to mention if the original designer's license on the photo(s) was strict, you'll need to get permission to use the photograph(s) as well...

You got pics of the current ones? I want one for my up coming overseas tour. It can't have any pictures of girl in bikkinis though. We are not allowed to have pics of girls with there bodies exposed because it violates middle east cultures. Let me know and I'll get one from you.

I work in graphic design, own a design studio, and wouldn't want 1st7heaven getting into legal trouble. Additionally, as a designer, I know that if asked for permission to use something I had designed 10 years ago, I'd gladly have said yes - however, by the same token, had I not been asked, I'd be having fun with my lawyer - don't screw with peoples' intellectual property as it only ends in pain.
1st7heaven, if you can get me details (usually on the bottom or back of calendars) I'll help try and get you what you need from the designers.

Just to throw my 2-cenz in. We all know that Pratch is right. And we all know that we, from time to time, innocently violate copyright laws (ie copy a rental movie, burn a music CD for a friend). By "innocently", I mean not for capital gain and nobody's gonna drag us to court over that. But it's much different if you reproduce something for gain. I remember Disney going after a some "entrepreneurs" not too long ago for selling T-shirts with Disney Characters on them. They get serious over that ****.

If anyone asks for $$$ (the photographer, of Valvoline, or whoever) make sure they actually own rights to the images or complete work.
It could be, for instance, that Valvoline has the rights to publish those images on their calendar, but the images themselves still belong to the photographer. So for Valvoline to resell you rights they don't own would cost you $$$ and get you nowhere - and such things do happen.

Heh - well, at the $3 and change, it's likely he was just breaking even, but still - if it's for cash (suggested donation only absolves you so far) and it's not yours to sell, you could be in trouble. I'll fill you in on a story along these lines in a few months. I'm currently having to sue a client to collect $10K in non-paid bills.
It gets worse though... they are still using (read: stealing) my work and profiting from it. Additionally (unverified) they may have attempted to copyright my work. I can prove first work on everything, and they have items which can't (easily) be returned to the state of 1st work. Basically, after the puny collect-the-bills suit, I will be serving them for theft of intellectual property, and since they are a $150+ million dollar company, expect me to receive LARGE amounts of bling bling for this one.

I contacted the guy that actually owns this print and he was a little upset so I decided to call it off. I hate having people mad at me!!!!
I have so many prints and things from "the days" when the 1st gen was dominating all road racing. Pete Halsmer, Elliott Forbes Robinson, Roger Mandeville, John Finger, Dick Greer........all these guys that drove the 1st gen. to victory and I cant share this stuff!!!!!

Tell you what, I'll take some shots of my car and give you a sexy poster you can sell. Of course, getting permission from Mazda to use the 1st gen logo is prolly going to take some time, but I'm more than willing to give it a shot

In 1280 x 720 so I could use as a wallpaper?
