one big thing is i was plannin on it being horribly loud but i wanna be at a stop light and have people wondering what the hell it is, i wanted to go for a 51IDA downdraft straight pipe headers uncolected with each pipe exits in front of the rear wheels
I'm one of the very few people on this board who have actually owned and driven a 12a pp, open header on the street. ONCE. My parents live in a very rural area...and so I decided to take off my exhaust, and take it for a spin. My then girlfriend wanted to go with me. I said shure, and we fired it up. It was loud. let me repeat that again. IT WAS FREAKING LOUD! I short shifted the car until we where a good couple miles away. I nailed it at around 4k rpms. By 7k rpms with no hearing protection, I could'nt take anymore. I kid you not. The entire car viabrated from the sound. It made my X, a little funny feeling to say the least. (I'll leave it at that. ) When we finally pulled back into my parents driveway, and shut if off, my ears rang like I just came out of a concert, and had been standing in the mosh pit for hours. Not more than 5 minutes later, we had cop cars driving up and down my road. I'm shure they where looking for a downed helicopter. Bottom line is...if you lived anywhere near a town, you would probably be thrown in jail. Good luck with your project. CJ

I drove my 12a pp with open header once and, ya it was really loud, you could feal every exhaust pulse hit through the whole car. I wore hearing protection and it wasnt too bad, but like pp13bnos said, if you leave any where near a town you done, and even if you dont and you have to drive by more than just a couple peoples houses, they WILL call the cops. I doubt the one you heard was actually open header, it probably had at least a presilencer on it.
