anyone have under axle exhaust pics?
im considering the following setup for my 12a
RB dual outlet headers, to 2 2 1/4" pipes welded on, to a 2 into 1 magnaflow muffler in place of the stock cat. then a single 2 1/2" pipe from the muffler, under the axle, then up on an angle to a N1 type ebay can. i figure the magnaflow 2 into 1 will keep the noise down, and the ebay muffler on the back will basically just be like a big resonator. i don't expect the fiberglass in the thing to last, its just there for looks.
anyone have pics of under axle exhaust?
anyone have any other suggestions for my exhaust? i already have the road race RB header with 2 outlets, should i just get a y pipe, then run that to a single inlet/outlet magnaflow in place of the main cat? my idea is to keep it dual all the way to the cat, to keep it more free flowing

also, since the muffler in place of the cat will be the main source of quieting the noise down, should i try and find something that's "baffled" rather than a straight through design? this is why i am considering the oval type dual inlet to single outlet because i expect it to have baffles, thus reducing the noise.
another idea is to run 2 glasspack mufflers instead...one for each outlet from the header...it seems to me that having 2 of them would reduce the exhaust temps by half...(kind of like the way the RB streetport exhaust is), except rather than using RB presilencers, using 2 glasspack mufflers. (on my old rx7 i had a stock maniflold, to 1 glasspack, then to nothing. and the glasspack would last about 6 months before it got loud again. i wonder if 2 would make a difference (plus i already have a glasspack sitting around and another would cost next to nothing)
keep in mind this is all on a stock 12a. but i'd like it to be able to handle boost if i end up doing that down the road

I'll leave the dual/single debate alone. As for the under the rear route for exhaust, it works fine on lowered cars. I had it on a couple race cars. One problem is running the pipe near the middle of the rearend next to the diff. IIRC the stock watts link bushing won't like the heat, we ran panhard bars. You want to keep it near the center so when the car leans you have a little more clearance to the rear housing.
I don't think 2 glasspacks would last much longer taking the breath of one rotor each. If you have the room put the mufflers in the back as far as the engine as possible. But, there as many opinions about exhaust as there are members of this forum.

Nick..I know you..and seeing how you want to do the exhaust on a Budget,I wouldn't be thinking "glasspack"..It would be Throwing your money out the window..Maybe some kind of Flow through Dual in/Single out Muffler in between your N1style Can and your Header?..(would that be more to the "test"?)

Dual 2 1/4" pipes are way too big. That's too large for a ported 13B. Stick with 2" or even slightly smaller. More is not better in this (most!) case(s) as your exhaust ports don't have near that area. You'll just lose exhaust velocity which will result in less power. 2 1/2" collected is plenty large.
