Anyone have a T2 engine in your 1st Gen?

Does anyone have this kind of swap... if so how hard is it to swap it over is there alot to it? I'm thinking about doing this next year so I can save up some money to do it.

Are you crazy? That's impossible. It can't be done.

It's been done - one of the forum members here documented the switchover for a 13b SE that he converted - most likely it's an easier swap for a car that already had EFI, but could be done on just about any build code.

I'll wait for the member to post up here if he'd like to share some of the info. I know it's true because he sold me his old 13b RE-EGI engine as a long-block. HTH,

-money
-search button

I remember when I put an 83 engine in my 84 gsl. There where extra wires there for the EFI. I had to get wiring diagrams to make sure I didn't use those by mistake. So I would imagine that starting with and 84 you at least won't have to worry about witring.

This ought to answer most of your questions. Look to spend anywhere from $2500 to $10k depending upon what you want and the condition of the donor engine. Mine swap is around $4k so far.

Here's the thread Longduck was talking about: The Chronicles of a Turbo II Swap

Some of the guys here are tough on noobs but they have always been there when I had questions. We're all just here for the fun of it. As mentioned earlier, I suggest you learn to search the forum and read as much as you can before asking nebulous questions.

I gotta go and put my flamesuit back on and see how my hoodscoop thread is doing

Anyway, good luck and hope you learn something.

Scott

The twin-turbo is the 13B REW, not RE.

You don't *even* have to search. You will get a bombardment of info that way, but you can check the FAQ sticky at the top and the archive. Those should be easier to find info in than a search, which returns about a million threads with the term "TII" in it.

Try this one:
"TII Swap into GSL-SE"
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=108398

and this one
"Chronicles of a TII swap"
https://www.rx7club.com//showthread....hreadid=255020

you can find many more. It's easier to do with a GSL-SE because the TII is a 13b engine (check the FAQ if you don't know what the difference between a 12a and 13b is). Since the TII is a 13b engine, the only first gen that came with a 13b engine are the '84-'85 GSL-SE model only. All other '79-85 models had 12a Engines. While the swap is still definitely possible, the wiring is worse with the 12a models because they were carbureted. The GSL-SE had fuel injection so most of the wires you need for the TII ECU are already present, and just have to be rewired (perhaps the longest part of the swap).

If you want to make it easier on yourself, you can remove the fuel injection from the TII and use a blow-through carb setup. That removes the wiring nightmare.

Directfreak and IoTus, the two jokers above, both have Turbo'd 1st gens, so disregard their pokes and humor. It's funny as hell to the rest of us to hear them say that.

Next time you think of some questions, check the FAQ. Then check the Archive quickly (it's only two pages). Then try searching. This will at the very least arm you with more information than you start with, which will help you form an educated question about some specifics.

That educated question about specifics will be recieved much better, and if the info exists chances are we know *exactly* how to search it up, so we'll give it to ya.

I hope you didn't get discouraged by the tons of people telling you to search.. It's just when you're a regular on this forum you get this exact question like once a week. The extra threads make it harder to find info in a search because you get dozens of these practically empty threads and only one or two good ones. Not only that, if I had the patience to type something this big for each time this was asked, I'd be next in line for becoming enlightened, reaching another plane of existance and exiting these realms of samsaric suffering.

Welcome to the forum!

Have fun, and don't be afraid to ask questions, you'll always get at least something.

Jon

hey rex

im not been tought on noobs but sometimes it gets old hearing the same question over and over again sometime once a day. that why inittab build taht FAQ's tread. i like to respond your answer everytime you ask but please search first if you didnt find nothing then we can answer your questions. so i hope you dont get mad at us for our little humor

well back to the thread

if you have a gslse is more easier doing it on gslse chassis because most of the parts that you need is on the engine/chassis but if your doing it on a rx7 witha 12a well you need some stuff and expect to ahave a big wallet too because the cheapest i seen is about $2500 but it can get more that $10K. check on those link on the top reply for more info
