..and I don't like the rear panel. The license plate area looks like an afterthought.

I recall one of the mags (Road & Track, I believe) reviewing the styling on the FB, stating that the rear styling on the RX-7 went from one of the ugliest to one of the best. I think they were a little stong on the ugly part, but they captured the spirit.

I've built the model (had the body painted by a guy who uses actual automobile paint; looks sweet).

I would like to add that diecast to the collection though. I've probably e-mailed about 6 or 7 online companies (Australia and Japan) about this... no response from the ones who had it, and 'we don't have it' from the ones who do a lot of U.S business. Damn!

so is M4 a manufacturer? I have a supplier that needs the name of the manufacturer in order to give me a landed-in-North-America price

Boo hiss.

I can't find a North American supplier of the 1/16th scale diecast model posted at the beginning of this thread (M4?) Thee's a few plastic kits out there from Ertl, etc. but the diecast stuff is hard to come by.

Thanks Manntis!

The manufacturer may actually be "MTECH" -- I think it's a seperate product line callled "M4". Also, the diecast size is 1/43, not 1/16.

Here's a few links to the actual product from stores in Japan:

Toy Garden (click on the "M4" then 12A and M4-12B for 3 images in white and brown)

Another Place (great large pics in red)

Tekstnov (scroll down for charcoal)

Manntis, go here and click on "metal and tin" at the bottom, there are a **** load of manufaturers out there that you might be able to dig up info on and contact.

Close, but no cigar. Those are the SA... I'm looking for the M4 (by Mtech) diecast. FB, and it appears to be an SE model. Actually, I think it's the Japan 1st Gen Turbo.

Well, I've decided to try to work on this one again. Just starting out....will keep everyone posted.

However, I did find a new 1st gen model kit! It's the SA, but it appears to be pretty nice.

NEw SA Model Kit

Why are all the decent models for the SA and not the FB? SA was two years, and the FB was 5 years. Doesn't seem fair.

Also, I kinda remember laughing at tacky Ultraman movies as a kid... those translation jobs and great special effects were, um, memorable. Well, here's a Cosmo model done in the Ultraman theme. Go figure...

Ultraman Cosmo

I've also seem Tomy Bit-CharG cars with the Ultraman theme.
