AZ Anybody Going/Been to 7Stock? (Nov 4, 2017)

NOTE: SevenStock is Saturday, November 4th, 2017 - for some reason I can't change the title!

Back when I was in a formal rotary club (RCCAZ), they used to have a group that would do the annual pilgrimage to SevenStock in California every year. I never made the trip with them because there was always work to be done and I just never got around to it. Looking at some of the site pictures, it looks like the premiere spot for rotary engine guys, and I'm thinking about making the trek from AZ to Los Angeles - probably out the day before, stay the day, and then drive back that night.

The problem will be finding a hotel for the night before, and I'm willing to drive a bit to get there vs. staying close by. Anyway, has anybody gone recently (or in the distant past) and can offer any travel suggestions or rundown on the experience? TIA,

every year I would like to, and every year there is a challenge. Personally the date confounds me. There are mountain passes that may need to transverse and November is in the snowy season.

40 cars signed up now!

Thanks for linking to it, man. I actually know Tim from back when we had RCCAZ club runs in the Phoenix area, and would be good to catch up with those guys again. I guess I should poke my head out od the 1st Gen forum from time to time, huh?

I'm so jealous of all you guys going down there. My in-laws moved out to Cali this year and I'm hoping to make a trip "to see them" over 7Stock one year. That way I can drop the wife off at their house and head down to check out the action at 7Stock

My wife and I were thinking about going, but realistically would have to fly (3 days drive each way easily, and in an FB? no thanks lol) but just couldn't justify the cost right now. Shame. It looks like an awesome event.

I'll edit your title

I am going luckily I live only 40min away. There are plenty of hotels in the area. So you should be able to book one.

Hey LongDuck, I belong to a rotary group on Facebook out here in Arizona with people who share the same passion. If you'd like, send me a PM and I'll invite you to the Facebook group chat.

I will be there again... 8th time in a row, and 11th time overall (I skipped #'s 8-11 while restoring the car, and missed #12 due to a medical issue).

This year being #20, it should be a good time.

Thanks for the "spot"! Somewht shamefully, I've stopped waving to RX8 drivers because they never wave back! Every guy I see around town in an RX7 always gives a wave or a thumbs up.
on topic, I booked the room for Friday night and am #41 on the caravan going from Phoenix on Friday morning. Thanks again for the feedback and tipping me toward making the trip this year; being the 20th anniversary of SS and the 50th of Mazdas rotary engine enterprise, it seems like the right one.
