anybody ever install a 911 turbo???

Friend of mine has a spare turbo's off his '99 911. He upgraded his turbo's and wants me to install ONE on my car. I know I have to make custom oil lines to the turbo and get a front mount intercooler. I believe that I must have a custom manifold built for this job. I have a header but I'm gonna have to get rid of it I'm assuming. As for size it should fit fine.... I know a fuel pump is nesessary and I must upgrade my fuel delievry system.
Thanks in advance....

P.S. is it at all possible to install both turbos just like a third gen, possibly removing fuel injection to a set of carburators.

You'll need
A stack of cash
Aftermarket ECU
Exhaust manifold and piping
intake piping
intercooler and piping
extra injectors, and mounting
fuel pump upgrade, surge tank
rewiring of engine

I think a stock T2 transplant would be cheaper than
try to convert this 911 Turbo to work.

Let's crunch the numbers... new 911 Turbo is a 3.6l that winds out to, what 6800? They're twin turbos so the turbos are sized for something like a 1.8l winding to 6800.

Your RX-7 equates to about 2.3l (or 2.6l if 13B)... and your redline is 7000-8500... see the problem? The 911's turbo would be WAY too small. Sure you'd have full boost by 1500 or so but the engine'd choke and overspeed the turbo long before redline.

Smart thinking you guy's!! Not worth the trouble, and the money I'm guessing. I had a chance to get a cartech turbo a few months ago but I just let it slide by me.... I should have got it... but back then I was all n/a=less problems, but now I kinda want the extra power even though my car is pulling great. I just wanna break into high 14's. For now probably just MSD ignition box and maybe a small shot of nos as planned.

You only need the NOS if you want into the 13's
14's can be done without the NOS

I have heard that on piston cars if you use NOS about 10 times or so that it could **** up the engine... Is there any problems like that on a rotary? I am only planning on having a 50hp shot or so...

Whoever told you that is full of it. Nitrous can be safely used hundreds of times, or you can blow your engine the first time you hit the button. It's all in the TUNING.

I just wanna pull off mid to high 14's. I want to do so with the stock ports because the engine is new. No sense in stripping it down. I just need a recipe to follow to get there, if it can't be done it's my problem, and I'll have to wait and port it later on. In which case I won't be needing nitrous which is also illegal in my area. Cops are wise to the bottle now. well thanks guys.

You should try mazdaracing.com they make turbo kits for the 12a using the stock carb in a blowthrew setup. They had one at seven stock it looked like a nice setup. Just give them a call and tell them what you want to do they have been real helpful over the phone with my 13bt project.

I'll look into them, thanks! You have a 13bt in yours... My car is a 13b also. what did you have to do to your car to add the turbo. injectors? Fuel Pump? ECU? So I can get an idea of what I'm gonna get into. Thanks
