Mariah lists "race" wide body kits like the GTO and GTU which they claim are runable on the street. If this is true they look incredible. I wonder how much weight they add and how practical they are? Also, would you necessarily have to graft them on to the complete stock panels or could you strip the stockers off to keep the weight down? Any thoughts

i do want the gto-1 kit... i cannot wait until i have the power to justify it... hmm.. perhaps i need to do a nother motor swap.

 

Well these kits are not really pratical for a street car. They are total race kits which can be run on the street but, they lack a lot of the essential street legal stuff in most states. You will have to do quite a bit of fabrication to get them up to anywhere near a legal status... you'll need to make provosion for lights, turn signals, bumper reinforcement, etc... Also, the FRP is laid up pretty thin and light.. prone to cracking and wear in a street enviroment... not that it can't be done but, not an easy task. I have seen one car with a MARK-II kit and it looked awesome but, it took a lot of work.

BTW, You can stirp/cut-off the OEM panels and use these, like true race cars... and save weight.

Basis being the key word...

Like almost anything custom, with enough time ad money, it can be done.

that is interesting.. i have never seen them say that on the site before.. always just saw that they have sucsessfuly adapted the kit to work with a unibody chasis. guess it is time to take a close look at the site again.

edit. it would probably help if i looked at the top of that page, rather than just the description of the kit. silly me.
