Any new input / news on the CP R&P Kits

Haven't heard anything from those who have it installed in a while. How are you liking it thus far, how many miles have you put on it.

Also, last I heard they were yet again making an improved kit--- has anyone heard any news on this.

Just trying to see if this should be put on my spring project list for the 7.

Been running mine for about 15 months. Its very smooth now,and still no play to speak of.
The initial wobble in the resistance went away after a few months and its pretty slick now.I still dont care for how tight a turn the Ujoints have to make over such a short distance.Im waiting to see if the new kit solves this and if its retro-fittable to the old one.

According to CP, the angle of the u-joint is the same. The changes are in the rack and the mounting bracket. I've posted pictures of it before.

Search the forum, there's a lot of information on both of your questions.

No,being a street car I just had it alighned afterwards and watched for any unusual tire wear.So far so good and it handles just great.Since the new kit doesnt change the joints, guess Ill just keep it as-is.A small amount of grinding and pushing was needed, but it bolted up easily enough and it doesnt hit anything.

Here are the pictures of the new R&P kit. It's much better made and finished. I sold the older one that I bought so I can't directly compare, but if feels lighter, and look, 2 universal joints! I was leary about the previous version, so I sold it, but this one looks much better. I can't tell on the steering travel but if someone wants to compare, I'll take measurements.

The rack mounting system looks cleaner, more rigid. The steering shaft and U-joints are the same as on mine.

It looks like they left the tubular system for the rack subframe... I dunno if that's a good thing of not. Lighter, but is it stronger

My universal joint assembly looks similar, but between the two universals, my shaft is a one piece rod. This new one looks like it's telescopic square.

Also, I believe my rack is a black painted steel one. This one might be aluminium.

The new frame is square section tubing and the design is better boxed, much much stronger, there's no comparison. This one is powder coated, not painted. The rack has an aluminum body. The universal shaft is telescoping.

No. I haven't touched the 7 in years...

That all changes. I've got a 2nd job and a credit card... I hope to have it on the road by this spring... Barring any more bullshit.

If anyone wants to measure the travel of the old rack, I'll measure the new rack to compare. Assuming the old and new sit in the same location, it should give us an idea of the travel improvement.

The price is a typo. It was $625 and CP confirmed it today.
