Any harm done with a broken clutch fan?

This S2 that I drove... I noticed during high RPM's, the fan clutch seems to still be stuck/engaged and is pretty loud in the mid-upper RPM range.

Other than a slight loss of HP, are there are any negative effects (maybe with the water pump too slowing?)

Lastly, will a fan/fan clutch off a '79 auto work in place of an S2 setup?

Thanks!

S2 as in series 2? As in 86+ or 81+? Anyway, likely no harm done, cooling wise. Can't imagine any diff to the w/pump, since it spins at the pulley speed, not the clutch's normal, slower speed (ie. when working correctly). Noisy like you say though, and certainly sapping some HP....
no, a 79 clutch won't work on anything but 79-80

actually, up to 85 are inter-changeable. be sure to take the whole assembly such as the fan, fan clutch and the mounts. For 12-A, there should be plenty of clearance between the radiator and the fan clutch.
