any 12a based 3 rotors?

From all i've read, the 12a seems to be the more reliable rotary, but are there any 3 rotors out there built on 12a parts? I think that would be awesome.

the 12a is reliable because the vast majority of them arent boosted.

but what would you call it? 18a?

So whats it take to build one? Obviously a custom eccentric shaft, and longer studs (or are they bolts, i'm kinda a newb) and probably 2 or 3 carbs?

A 3 rotor 12a based motor would be a 17a and a 4 rotor would be a 23a. There is a company that makes custom eccentric shafts for them.

I know with the stock 20b the two intermediate plates are not the same. What would you use as a second intermediate plate for a 12a-based 3-rotor? You need a gear to mesh with the middle rotor somehow...

Maybe you could use an intermediate housing or two from a 20B, it doesn't seem like they would care since it doesn't affect the rotor housings. Then again, looks like some one figured it out in 1988, way before the 20B.

If I remember correctly you can't use the 20B front-center (fat) plate because all S5+ stuff has the coolant seals on the iron rather than the rotor housing.

Correct, Scoot's 4 rotor is 12a based. He also uses 2 Jspec Power FCs to control the engine. A friend of mine visited his shop in Japan and got a ride. He said it was incredible. Scoot drove it like he stole it and my friend said that the exhaust note coming off the buildings as they blew by was incredible!!

YMMV. In the past 25 years--and nearly as many RX-7s--they never gave me any problems.

Yes those are SU's (HIF6)
