I'm going to be taking the FB in for paint soon. I have no desire to have the antenna. My Audi has the worlds coolest antenna: It's integrated into the rear window defroster. No unsightly metal mast that some ******* will break off. How hard do you think it would be to do something like that to the good ol' FB? I hardly listen to the radio as it is, as I prefer CDs, but could I run some sort of metallic strip across the top of the hatch and use that as an antenna?

I rewired the power antenna, per instructions somewhere on the forum, so it goes down when I turn off the ignition. easy change.

I had my autobody guy fill the antenna hole when he shaved it. I get good reception, but I mostly listen to the iPod.

 

Just fill the hole and get that painted over. Buy ANY antenna you can find and tuck the bitch up in the dash out of sight. It's just not necessary to have it sticking up or exposed (unless you live in bumshit somewhere).

 

There is one that dearborn classics sells. I think that it is about $90 and tucks under the dash. Really small IIRC.
