Another oil leak question

3 weeks ago I purchased a 1985 gsl Targa 7 with a 12 A Motor. It is a project car. The motor seems really peppy and I have some work to do to get it safetied to get it on the real road next spring. I live in a private area so I take it for little spins to wet my appetite. Whenever I leave it on the road to idle it leave 2 very wet oil spots. I have tried to locate the cause and it seems like the oil pan seal. It seems to leak when I rev the motor with the car sitting and may not leak when it just runs at low idle. I am not a mechanic and everything I know I learned from this site. I love the car and I need your opinion on the leak.
I am storing the car in my garage for the winter . Any tips for our cold Canadian climate.

check around the oil metering pump. this is a common leakage spot, best thing to do is spray
degreaser on it and hose it off and look for the leak. Where is the spot at, front or rear or middle? As far as storage goes, put gas stabilizer in tank, change the oil before you store it and if possible put it on four jackstands to get the weight off the tires. Leave the windows
partially cracked and invest in an trickle charge that shuts off automatically to keep the
battery in shape. rx7doctor

also, with a dowel pin leak, it can run down the side of the engine and drip on the ground.

If its the OMP then id fix it soon, but a dowel pin leak requires disassembaly of the engine so some people just leave 'em. just dont let the car get low on oil. Ive heard of some people using jb welb for the pin leak. dont know if it worked all that great.

If fitted with such, watch the oil cooler line fittings, too, during a 10 minute idle.

I was referring to the oil cooler lines that run to the under-the-radiator-type. They are a pain.

If you have adowel pin leak, try permatexs spray sealant, it's supposed to creep int o surfaces and stop the leak. worth a shot. If it's the omp, geat a kit and rebuild it. rx7doctor

I'll try that next and document the results...I can tell you now FOR SURE that the JBWeld idea will not work unless you plan to slather the stuff the entire perimeter of the housing on the mating side where the leak is...merely doing the area 8" over on both sides of the housing where the dowel pin area is on said casing will not stop the problem...
