Another Day in Paradise

Alright,

So I got really bored today and decided to go "driving" so here's the story, this road is commonly used to speed down by my self, and a few other people who can hang with .

This guy comes BARELLING out of the little cut through they just made for circuit city from one of the most congested parts of the city (to make it worse, where the high schoolers travel down at 3:35 PM CT flying and then you have angry parents who think everyone should do 10MPH under the speed limit).

I will admit, I was doing like 85-ISH because I had just come off a straight and was anticipating the turn (that I've taken oh so many times before with no problem at 85-95 MPH in my little car - no squealing either, it's really a more drawn out turn then I could draw at the time).

1) This guy did not stop.
2) He had to be doing at least 40 MPH down the road (I don't care about this part)
3) He pulled out in front of me without stopping and made me slam on my brakes and almost rear end his *** because he didn't speed up after he ran the stop sign.

So folks, I don't care who you are, when you here a little zinger coming down the road seeing it FLY (which I've seen my car fly on camera, it's got a noticeable tone and appearance, like the heat behind the exhaust swirls up and creates a dragon effect with that blurry ness you see on hot summer days) and you pull out running a stop sign give me a little common courtesy and pull over into the other lane so I don't rear end your ***.

He's lucky I was expecting some idiot somewhere to pop out (like I always do when driving, I'm taking driving school the 20th for SCCA! )

Anywho, the moral of the story, if you're old, get out the way, if you're slow get out of the way, if you're fast, well I'll move out the way or fall off to the side because I can't keep up but that doesn’t happen to often around here (minus that damn wind star mini-van, I'll beat that little rabbit-like producing of children woman [guess she was late for day care to pick up her kids? ]).

I didn't get hurt and I didn’t hit him but I had to slam on my brakes! I was bored so I wrote this...

Oh yeah, you idiots who don't use blinkers I'm going to shoot you one by one until all the wreck less drivers are dead (not considering my 90 MPH runs everywhere except 25MPH zone's and residential zones) - yes I use my blinkers all the time and don't whip over.

If I die, bury my car with me please, that's all I ask, and that I die in my car not in my sleep!

No...but I probably wouldn't do 30 or so over with the threat of dumbasses in big trucks pulling. Both you and the truck operator were dumb. The problem is, laws can't stop retards who aren't even looking for road signs, but they can make someone not do 30 over on what sounds like a 2-lane road with a curve in it.

"Standard Dumbass speeding comment"

At least you did have the forthought to know they would pull out infront of you.
Do you find while driving you know what the other person is going to do? Or just expect the worst?

Hey tech. I could probably teach you quite a bit about defensive driveing,Having well over a million miles under my "old" tail. obviously you dont give a rat about your fellow human, and drive as if the road was yours alone, get bent if someone diss'es you or makes you hit the binders. Do yourself a favor and ride with the ems or cops and see what your end could be like.

*Puts on flame suit*

Ok, im going to try not offend anyone here, granted Tech was speeding on a road (not necessarily excuseable, but hell i'm no angel either ) the truck driver should have stopped, or at least paused at the stop sign, and SAW that there was a speeding car and NOT have pulled out.

Also, (im gonna get flames for this) Tech was speeding on one of the safest kinds of roads, a 65 MPH road, a highway, not a back road, not a residential area or a parking lot. Therefore, in theory, it was almost the safest place to speed, short of a track that is.

Just my two cents...

It's a four lane highway that has LONG smooth curves (the roads almost brand new).

Hades, I can sense what people are going to do and expect the worse at the same time (like you see someone coming up to a stop sign barreling down the street, I expected it).

Bob, I don't care HOW MANY miles you have under your belt, I've seen people that have been driving twenty years longer than me do stupid **** (like not pull into their lane when taking a left or right LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO).

I do race in the SCCA so it's not like I have no idea how to drive and im just a dumb teenager, I know my limits...

He should've at least paused, no brakes at all just flew out (which didnt bother me) except for the point he pulled into my lane and slowed down...

I had one about 6 months ago. I was comming home from work and it was the weekend that I would go to see my wife. ( she was off at school). about 3 miles from home I get the feeling that it would be a bad day to get into a wreak. one mile from home and there is a road that crosses mine with theirs being the stop. A car is comming up it a bit two fast, I get the "OH ****" feeling and down to 2nd and get on the brakes. they crossed and I missed their rear by just enough. I am sure if there was more paint on either car then we would have hit.

Good lord, you'll be driving with the SCCA?

Here's to hoping you get the extra special badge of doing 3 schools!

This seems to be what defensive driving is all about... Tech anticipated what was likely to happen, and slowly down to compensate-- evidently he even slowed down early enough, as there wasn't an incident.

For reference, people traveling too slowly in any left-side lane which is generally faster than them is one of my biggest pet peeves.
That and not signaling, which may take the cake for me. How much effort does it take to move your hand just a little bit to give other drivers a heads up?

Yes,

If there's one thing I've learned from driving its defensive driving, for instance;

1) I never ride side by side with cars because half the idiots around here just move over [A Without their blinkers and B without even looking]

2) I don’t just simply merge onto the interstate like most people around here, even though its common courtesy to get over a lane to let people over most don't do it.

3) I know how to turn into my lane and not make a wide turn like oh so many people I've seen do and end up causing wrecks and get pissed off because "it's not their fault" even though they don't know you're supposed to turn into your own lane.

Christaylor, no it's better than going on the streets to race all the time, unlike most of the kids around here I'm trying to go legit and not street race all the time and stick to the tracks. You guys are kind of being hypocrites here, the SCCA is dumb, but I shouldn’t gun it on the streets?
