So what's the problem with rewiring the fuel pump so it runs when the key is on? You could put a switch on it as well, and if it was hidden it would double as a good immobiliser.

Yeah I broke out the diagrams yesterday, we'll see what can I come up with.
That's cause you're such an *******.

The choke cable electromagnets are known to go. Maybe you have it wired so the magnet completes the circuit for the pump, but since the electro magnet **** the bed...?
It's a tough plug to figure out, IIRC it has several terminals.
I have a couple of choke **** assemblies, but you're such an imbicile I'm not so sure I really want to send them to you.
Let me know, *******, and if that's the culprit I'll mail one off. I guess.

Nurse! Dennis escaped from his room again!

I have an electrician friend looking into it. I'll let you know if I need the choke assembly.

You had to have a friend look into it? Use a Voltomajig.

So to update all my friends, and Sterling :

We were unable to narrow down where the signal to the fuel pump and choke was being interrupted, but were able to succesfully rewire both, so now they both work again.

So once again, it's alive!

Now I can go back to find the pesky vacuum leak that won't let the car idle.

Far from it, my friend. Car starts at the first turn of the key, and has awesome compression. Can't wait to open it up!

Mind you, Sterling carb so choke flaps are removed, so thec choke only controls the throttle position. Since the connection to the water temp sensor broke long ago, I have it so the two cables that would go to the sensor are always making contact. That way, I can pull out the choke and the magnetic element will always be on so it stays at whatever position I set it. OK. With that explained, as I was pulling into a gas station to gas up, the choke went in, as in the magnetic element lost its signal. Simultaneously, I stopped hearing the Carter fuel pump. Obviously the car died shortly after. BTW I have it modified so that instead of the fuel pump relay, there is a switch I can turn on and off at will.

What could the choke mechanism and the fuel pump have in common as far as their electrical connections are concerned that could cause this?
OK ! how about rewiring ur FP to a larger (fatter gage cable)and wiring a 30/40 amp relay w/ ignition direct from the battery, just to make sure U are getting all the juice needed to the fuel pump.
