Question am i crazy????

i went driving around just now but pulled my hood release while driving and something happened....................like for the first time in 2 years of owning this car when i hit the pedal my head was thrown back in the seat..?!?!?!?!?!? would poping the hood so that its open alittle bit cause more air flow increasing the power alittle?? i know this helps with heat and alot of the 240 guys put washers on their hood mounts to lift the rear of the hood up but more power???? i dont know

i've done it, but i just raised the hinge by like 1"-1.5" and vented it. if you've seen the Do Luck red Supra before, you'll know what i mean. it does work and it looks good; you can see the heat waving off. i also put hood pins so the hood wouldn't vibrate much on higher speeds

I've been thinking of doing this just out of curiosity.

Does rasing the hood lacth mechanism higher cause any interference with how it latches shut?

maybe you had your head in a different position, trying to see the heat coming out from under the hood, so when you mashed the gas, you actually nooticed your head throw back.....just a thought

i've heard of this being done...i can't imagine it looking good though

i couldnt tell if it cooled better since it was only a quick drive...because my front left caliper is seized so my brake smokes while driving but i drove down the street real quick for ***** and giggles and noitced an improvment in accel around the 4-5000 rpm range

Run the caliper in and out a few times. It frees it up for a while.

I sometime pop the hood and hoping to get more heat out of the engine bay ... it doesn't look all that good in my opinion on a FB as comparing to supra and s14s. If my memory serves correctly, by merely release the latch it doesn't provide a big enough gap to help the air flow.

Any chance that your battery is coming into contact with the hood? Maybe popping your hood cleared up an electrical short or something. Can't think of much else that would make that kind of a performance difference....

If your battery is not straped down then strap it down!!! mine wasint and to say the least when it did come in the contact with my hood the fireworks started it shorted evrything out and blew the battery up. So be smart and tie it down.

Yeah, you might want to check for burn marks on the inside of your hood...

do you still have your engine skid tray? if not, perhaps your engine and stuff was creating extra drag and popping the hood cleared out the high pressure... kind of like cutting a hole in a parachute?
