Arrow Am I that biased?

ok guys.. I've talked to quite a few friends who have fc's, fd's etc etc.. there are VERY few that I would trade my SE for. I love the way the car handles.. its got so much to offer for such a cheap car, and its light compared to the FC and FD. GSL-SE's are wicked, and I seriously need more power.. I need a good 350rwhp. I figure thats the best amount of power in the car, and it could be done with an S5 T2 swap im sure reliably. I know I am rambling but Im trying to make sense. FC's are ok.. I dont like the look as much as the SE unless the FC is done right up.. and they are heavy IMO. FD's are wicked cool too, but they dont have the same friendly feel for a cheap, but VERY potent sports car. Do you guys agree? RX-8's are great too.. but they need more power, and better looks. They sure drive nice tho

anyone agree?

oh.. and I'm fkin poor so I may have to sell it for now and get another SE in the future.

Yes, you're biased. And you should be. I know exactly what you mean.

I met a guy here with an FD, new to the rx scene. Coolest thing, he was actually intimidated to talk to me and my FB friends, cause he thought we were too old school, and might not accept him. They love our cars, and they know it, most of them just won't admit to it.

I dunno.. all the guys I know bash FB's liek they suck.. well a stock GSL-SE pulls the IDENTICAL .91g's as a T2, weighs a lot less.. like 7-800lbs.. and has more round lines.. not to mention loads cheaper. I could see myself owning all 3 gens.. and an RX-8, but I would want a LIGHTENED T2 ( no NA FC's.. i just plain dont like em) and a modded FD as well
FB's for their age can definately hold their own

Yeah, those stock FD's are FAST! Don't they get over 250 HP?

FB and FD are the best. FB can pull more G's lateral acceleration than a FC. The engines all same rotary and the FB is lighter. Therefore FB is faster. And FB looks better. RX-4, RX-8, Luce, and REPU would be nice to have.

Are you sure the FB can pull more lateral g's than FC's? I love FB's but I always FC's handled better.

On average they are VERY SLOW due to so much time sitting still in the garage awaiting repairs.

Yes FB pull the same (stock) or more (both modified) lateral acceleration. And FC is heavier resulting in less nimble handling.

I never have played favorites. An RX is an RX, each has an individual set of strengths and weaknesses, and all are superior to just about anything when tuned right.

I'm totally biased toward my '84GS. I prefer the '84 dash style to the other FB/SA dash style, and I've got this odd compelling pull towards the 12a engine. You've gotta think: all the other rotary powered Mazdas sport 13b's or in the case of Cosmo's 20b's. The 12a is that much *rarer* and it's a bit smaller... So I've got this urge to make alot of power out of my little carbureted 12a.

I want to change my sig one day to "My GS can beat your TII"...

But for now it'll have to stay "My GS can beat your -SE"

A lot of people underestimate the 12a, its the motor they used to take the IMSA cup the three times they did it with the FB. Its also the basis for the four-rotor program. Even the four-port 13bs are put to the test with a 12a running at 14K.

Yea, i definitely am biased about my 85 S.. cost me 800 bucks yet has been going strong for 2 years. it handles great, i got into my girlfriend's mustank... hers may go faster, but mine feels a lot better.

the only other rx i would take right now would be a s5 TII or that kickass blue rx4 (i think ?) that is posted somewhere around here..

well I love my se, I mean with all the right mods it's rad. I really don't like the way the fc looks, unless you do a lot of body mods. And the dash ain't to my styling, but I do like the seats, kinda comfy, but not as much as mine. Idon't know I'm not a love of the fc. Now the FD, I'm alittle jealous, it's a nice car with potential. Swap the TT out for one huge turbo and the way you can make them look could make anyone jealous. But for now I'm stick ing with my FB. B is for better C is for could be and D is for DORKY! I'm kidding lol.

Ok, In my books, FC's suck (except for the engines, which are IMO the best of the 80's and 90's), FD's aren't far ahead of the FC either though. They require a lot of maintenence (so I hear), and they are just not my style. IMO, the FB defines what an RX-7 is. It was the first, and will always be the best, no matter how slow many think it is. I am biased, but thats part of owning a car. Talk to anyone who is a car nut, they are normally quite biased to the car that they own.

As I keep reminding my daughter, the 81-85 RX-7 is the finest car ever made.

I purchased my 1980 SA just for a second commuter car so that I could reduce the miles on my truck.

The price was right, visually it needed help, and it was running rough. I purchased it, had it lightly tuned and figured it was just a car to get me from point A to B.

But ever since I bought it, it has been growing on me every day. I can't wait to get in a drive it.

IMO , the FD is probably one of the nicest cars ever built .. period ... I meen, just look at it's curves and all, it's REALLY REALLY nice! They actually have one at my school DONATED BY MAZDA CANADA ( I know !! ) and they NEVER use it, engine works 100%, turbo need work but besides that its pretty top shape ( <10k on it :P ) BUT, they don't wanna trade :'(

NEVERTHELESS, in reasonable budgets, the FB is the best. IMO, it looks cool, rare, it is rare, it's light, kicks ***, Not the fastest, but it will pull you in your seat, it's pretty cool and I'm happy to own one.

NOW, the FC ... WTF was Mazda thinking ? it look sJUST like a stupid Ford Probe ! COMMON ! the dash is ugly, the car doesn't look *special* like an FB or FD ... yeah the TII is REALLY nice, of cours e... that's just the engine ... IMO, TII in FB = SAAAWWEEEETTEE ! :P

See yas !

if done right, the fc looks very nice. and the probe looks like the FC, not the other way around. im biased too because i got an FC first. still have it.

my SA does have a different feel to it when i drive it (when it was still running--need to breath life back into it). true, it does feels much more nimble then my FC, almost like a go-cart. but each car has their points.

The Probe looks like the FC if you are tripping *****. The thing with the FC is that most of the cars that make it look "plain" are based on its design. As much as I love my FB, i would love to have an FC just as much. The JDM Enfini III, a la Takahashi Ryosuke, is probably the most beautiful of any of the RX series (yes including the RX4 wagon ).

the reason is because like you said, they copied the design, then made it uglier. the fd, is copied too for the firebird, and made uglier. a la takahashi ryosuke's FC is BEAUTY!
