alternator specs
hey all. I have a 1980 rx-7 i am converting to a v-8 and looking into batteries.
does anyone know the specs on the alternator - how many charging volts it puts out or what not.
just don't want to get the wrong battery and there's limited options as I am putting it in a tight location.

They put little Civic batteries in some of the 7's that have tight quarters. Any 12 volt battery will work so long as it puts out enough cranking amps to turn the starter for that V8. Just make sure the positive and negative battery posts are on the right locations.
More alternator amp output the better as the system will only draw what it needs. Just make sure you use the right size pulley so the alternator is putting out around 13.5 volts at idle. If you use too big a pulley, it won't turn fast enough at idle to get to those volts.
