The 2nd gen. alternator pretty much plugs straight in. All I did was use a suitable size nut as a spacer. And if yours is a Series 2 or 3 you won't need to touch the wiring.

Manntis, it's like you're in my head or sumpin 'cause I just now (a few minutes ago) installed a 2nd gen alt into my REPU. I previously had an '82 alt in it. This new one fits fine with 4 washers after sliding the rollpin out a little and then tightening the long bolt to push the rollpin back in to sort of 'custom fit' it against the washers. It even came with a T shaped outlet so I didn't need to modify anything. (I added an extension cord though because the outlet was further away. It's going on my project car soon so there's no need to modify the REPU's harness)

If I thought either of you did'nt have the sense of humour for it, I would'nt have said it.

Did'nt know about the "pent up anger" thing.

Ok, well I hate to be the odd one here, but I cant even get an 83 alternator to fit on my 84, so why would a second gen alternator fit? My Dad and I tried for a long *** time to get that to fit, we made dozens of different spacers, but to no avail. It was like the alternator was tilted the wrong way (forward to back) where it bolts top the engine, cause when we put the 83 on, it tilts weird, but the 84's sits just fine???

Oh, and I still need my double groove pully...Anyone know which one Im supposed to get? Everyone just posts the same thread, but I cant find in there where it tells me a car (or alt) I can get one off of. I tried calling the company that they had listed, but I guess they dont have any in stock anymore . Which car or whatever am I supposed to get one from?
