Alternate dizzy's for the 13B?
I'm piecing together a bunch of misc pieces to build a carbed 13B for an ultralight FC project I've gotten into here recently. Thing is, though, that in my area FB's are very far and few between, making locating a distributer kinna difficult. I was wondering if any fords (very plentiful here) used the same dizzy as the carbed FB's? I personally have two early 80's carbed escorts, are those compatible? Would it be possible to disassemble the CAS from my original 13B setup and mount the dizzy components from the escort on it? Just curious.
I know I can continue to use the FC ECU to run my timing and stuff and keep the CAS installed but eliminating the ECU and associated wiring would greatly help my 1700lb goal.

With DLIDFIS, if you can find an FB dizzy, that FC engine's ignition will run the way it was 'supposed to' from the factory; with simultanious firing on both Leading plugs, but without the ECU and all those sensors and misc related hardware (you said ultralight right?). I'll never go back to one (Leading) spark per revolution (rotor face). Or if you're adventerous and don't need mechanical advance, you could install some '72+ Dodge or '81-'85 Mazda pickups in an FC CAS and get direct fire on Leading and Trailing. I think RX-Midget got it to work. I've got an FC CAS to mess with now too.
As far as replacement distributors, I doubt you'll find any.... the way the rotary uses spark is entirely different from any piston engine I know of. Just find a junk-yard one.....
BTW, I have one that I won't be needing, if your interested, PM me.
