Cool Sell me on an RX-7

Well I'd first like to just say "hi" I'm new to the forum for the following reason. I own a Subaru '95 Legacy, but I was driving down the street from my house and I noticed an older car. Now I'm really familiar with cars I grew up in a shop, but i didn't recognize this car so i pulled over and checked it out.

Just so happens--it's an RX-7. An '84 RX-7 w/13b engine 210,000 miles and looks to be pretty good condition (as far as the interior is to say). Now what I'm posting about; this car only costs $800. I'm thinking of buying as a project car since I just sold my last one.

Why should i buy this? What makes it so good? Is this car a good buy? What kind of aftermarkets parts are there? Could I sell this after I rebuild it? Are they good Cars? Pros? Cons? (honestly)

This is everyones chance to sell me on why an RX-7 is the greatest car EVER! Let me have it, other than how the rotary works (which I still don't completely understand) I know absolutely nothing about these cars.

First off find out if it is a GSL-SE. They came with a factory 13B and have all the goodies you would want(4 wheel disc, limited slip,14inch rims ect.) They are also pretty rare so your starting off well. Next see if its been abused or rusted out, if not its a great project car and I'm jealous cause I've had 4 and never find the deals you guys find!

i have an 84 gsl-se i got about $2300 into it and people that have "heard" about 7's want to see, race, and drive it like its the greatest thing. did the body work and got a real good paint job put a street port and the other mods listed below and it looks good and huals azz on stock tires and pump gas i use to beat my friends 98 mustang gt up and down and i havent seen to many people handle turns better than i do in my 7. mind you thats just people i see on on the road at night when traffics slow i haven't found a place that i can race at in nm that doesnt require 5 point seat belts and roll cages. you wont be disipointed and you can find most of the parts you want at raceingbeat.com or mazdatrix.com look at these to get an idea of what you'd be spending to hook it up
if it means andythig after i got my 79 rx-7 5 years ago i've never wanted to own a different car.

This is a recent thread...

But simply put:
If they're properly taken care of, GSL-SE (84-85 with the 13B engine)
are reliable and fun.

Go and live life and drive it! See for yourself, you obviously already want it and know nothing about them. Expect to rebuild the engine with 200,000 miles on it, you better port it while you have it open and put headers on it too if you want it to run right . Have fun, because you will if you drive it!

I used to be a fast driver in a slow car, and never had any problems with the police.

Now... a fast driver in a fast car, that attracts a LOT of attention (how many widebody first gens do you see running around?), and I get all kinds of attention...

See. Look at all the tickets from 2003. Oh well... it's been the most fun I've ever had.
