I am assuming you took the air pump off. If the air pump is off, then the belt will slip and there is only 2 sure-fire ways to fix it. 1- double alt pulley from RB or mazdatrix. 2 - yoohoo belt, which is 3/8 wide and 22 long I believe.

No, not the AC pump the air pump. the one that blows air into the catalytic converter to keep it cool. Do you still have emissions on?

Any parts store that carries a 3/8" wide, 22" long belt. may take awhile to find a place that has it in stock. Most likely you may need to order it. A good place to go also is a lawn mower shop. Alot of mowers take smaller belts. The yoohoo belt goes around E-shaft pulley and water pump pulley. Thus, reducing stress on the alt belt. Also best bet is to replace alt belt while you are doing it. I have the yoohoo belt and I can send pics if you want. PM me or look on my profile and add me to your list. MSN or AOL is preferred.

The Duel Pulley or the yoohoo help but you will still schread belts.

Keep two spares in the car and the tools to change it on the side of the road.

I havent had to replace belts yet. "Yoohoo" is a nickname I think. Just ask for a belt with those dimensions, or you can drop 50 and get a double alt pulley and then buy 2 alt belts at a time.

Yahoo belt is a nickname. It refers to a lawn mower belt that happens to be the correct size for use with the air pump removed. 3L220 is the belt number Pratch's and RX7Carl Emission Removal Tutorial quotes...

Hope this helps...

Squirt WD40 on belt so it slips rather than squeaks, so it wears out much slower. Squeaking belts overheat and wear and break. Slipping belts just do less good stuff.

High redline + power + quickly revving engine = shredded belts.

Sorry, but I think you're screwed. Just keep it super tight, it'll be fine. I ALWAYS keep a spare belt in the car.

Make sure you buy the expensive (goodyear or gates NAME BRAND) belts, they seem to last a lot longer.
The longest a belt has lasted me, btw, is 8 months....
