I just replaced the clutch in my 81 gsl, used clutch alignment tool, slides in+out easily. Cannot get the tranny back in. Have tried balancing tranny on jack, raising then sliding in. Doesent go in. Edge of tranny case gets to about 1 1/2" away from back of rear housing and stops. The thin part of the input shaft is entering clutch, but the splined part is not. Anyone have any suggestions?

 

Got it. Just needed someone else to jive the rear of the tranny around while I pushed the tranny forward. Thanks anyway.

 

Yea its a hit and miss thing. Sometimes it just falls in and other times you gotta wrassel that rascal.
