aligning a dizzy

im intalling a 12at ditributor today in my car and the problem is that the hayes book say that have to align 2 dot in the ditributor gear and the casing so i get the timing right and both 12at and a spare distributor i have, they dont have a dot in the casing but the cam gear yes. can somebody help me here thanks

It's not so much a "dot" as a little "pointer" that's cast in to the aluminum housing. And make sure you index it with the little dimple in the gear, not the hole that the roll pin goes through. Good luck. -WG
