alarm system
i would like to purchase a good alarm system before i move to orlando for college but im not too sure what to get. theres someone selling a hornet system on this forum but he says its hard to install. does anyone have any information on this system? how hard to install, who would install for me and what the charge would be? thanks.
It first starts with your background in electronics. Can you trace down wires, use a multi meter and pull your dash apart.
I purchased the top of the line model from Crutchfield, not sure of the number right now. You will need power, ground, reverse poliairty on the dome light and door pins. The rest is just plug and play moduales, i.e. prox sensor. You can add hatch pops (which is realy cool) and I added door lock at the same time. Total time for wiring the alarm was around 6 hours, but that did not included the door locks.
The great thing about ordering from Crutchfield is the tech support and the complete wiring diagram.
If you do not feal comfortable taking apart you steering collum and the wiring harness under the dash, I would say spend the extra $150 and get someone to install it.
