air vent solenoid???

air vent solenoid???
i ditched the nest but i was looking my haynes manual and came across this

does this need to be conected to something now cuz i just have a rubber cap over teh brass tube that comes out beside the thing
or do i even need to keep the solenoid at all?
any info is appreaciated
