error if you bend the alluminim mounting brakets some more pissibilities for mounting will open up. see i was stupid and had the hoses made. Thus limiting the local for it. so test place then get hoses. Hell i would mount it drive and make sur eit is a good spot then go get hoses. i will do that on the gsl. but that local keeps it super cool. And the work was not that quick I just did a quick chop job with a sawall and made a spit drilled some holes and presto.

Looks a bit to low,,,I sure hope whatever you used to
mount it with can stand some jolts , and not come lose
while driving,,why not up and in front of the radiator.
Its important to shock mount the oil coolers,,because they can crack real easy. being rigid mounted.

I'm going to try multiple spots to see where might be the best spot before connecting any hoses. I was also thinking about placing it infront of the radiator.

I've been told NOT to put the oil cooler in front of the radiator. This is because air follows the path of least resistance. It's harder to go through an oil cooler, and then the radiator, instead of just the radiator = most air goes through the radiator and "ignores" the oil cooler.

I know Mazda put the oil cooler in front on the GSL-SE and subsequent models. Mazda also gave us the oil cooker on '83-85 12As and the thermo bypass on '86-p models, so maximum oil cooling is not what they were concerned about.

I don't understand why all of you don't just get the 79-82 radiator so you can mount the cooler under it the way its supposed to be. That would seem like its the easiest way to do it. Just my $.02

Becasue I could do it with an FC oil cooler, Mazdatrix stainless lines, and some bent up flat bar. All things that I had lying around.

Amazingly i have not hit any or hurt it any. Plus i get tons of air flow. The funny things is that it looks low but really i have had no problems as long as i stay off the gravel roads.

I bet if it weren't parked on the grass it would look a lot higher off the ground.

I took some extremely bad pictures of it, since I had to pull my engine back out last night.
