air intake temp sensor.

I'm a little confused about the air intake temp sensor on my SE. The FSM says that it's located, or a part of the AFM. As far as I know, the sensor screws into the dynamic chamber near the BAC, but it can be tested at the contacts of the AFM. Is this correct? If so, then what is that sensor that screws into the AFM that has no wires attached to it? Does that just somehow regulate the amount of air flow?

Thanks,

Mike

No, you're right - there are 2 of them.

1) is located at the AFM, which should have a connector on it from the wiring harness.

2) is at the dynamic chamber, as you've stated.

Both are used to determine the intake air temperature, since the intake air is coming through the AFM from the duct leading to the front of the radiator - that temp should be cooler than the air inside the dynamic chamber. The ECU uses both signals to help determine a hot start condition that could lead to flooding.

If you're having mixture problems, you might want to see why your AFM intake air temp sensor isn't hooked up. HTH,

Thanks Longduck. The sensor in the AFM is, I am assuming, the little nipple thing in the opening of the AFM. Its connection/wires are not visible. It receives its power from the main connector that hooks up to it.

I was referring to the sensor that screws/threads into the side of the AFM (passenger side) that has a nut on it. I'm not sure what that is.
