air intake

i need something along the lines of a cold air intake. i have a 84 ecu running a 88 n/a 13b. to get the AFS to work i had to use dryer ducting but i don't have much faith in it b/c with i step on the gas it shrivels up. i need a intake setup with the AFS that will work for a 84 gsl-se ecu but will hook up to a 88 n/a 13b. ideas?

You're asking for help here - do you think anyone wants to point you in the right direction if you jump all over the guy that suggests you to search for it?

I had a writeup on my 84SE cold air, and ram air headlight lid about 2 months ago. I don't have a link. You may be able to put this to use if you find it. Good luck,

The point is this, amigo...I put in "cold" and "air" and got 284 threads that address the subject....go through them first and then ask questions...you're killing bandwidth, otherwise...

not trying to get involved ... but just a suggestion here ...

no one can say that you did NOT search for it, but you have to try to look at it from his point of view as well. you're relatively new, and i'm not trying to generalize so don't get me wrong, but time and time again people ask things that come up on the first page of a search or else is in the archive ... and it gets a little annoying (speaking only for myself)

what i'm saying is if someone tells you to search, and you know that you tried and didn't find what you needed then either ignore them, or restate the fact that your search came up empty - rather than resorting to name-calling, because it may serve to alienate you from the community. just want you to think about it ... like i said, i'm not trying to scold or anything like that.

anyways back to the TOPIC. as i asked about an intake where i can hook up a cone air filter to my AFM and run it to a 88 13b n/a.
no offence to you people that think i should do a search. but if you don't want to comment on the topic b/c you think it has been covered then don't say anything and the topic will loose it's sticky.
but now that we have gone off the topic, can we get back on? does anyone have an idea for my problem

Have you thought about PVC pipe and Pluming reducer fittings ? They are fairly cheap and easy to be creative with. Just a thought, Good luck

I just ignore the insolent flames that ppl put up in threads. There are so many ppl on this board who dont want to help, just ignore them and thank the ones that do.

You could get some PVC piping and attach it using rubber or silicone connectors. Or you could use mandrel bent piping using silicone connectors, and route it wherever you want. It would look super sweet too.

Get a cone filter for it.

i sloved part of my problem. i went and took a chunk of metal 1/4 in thick. and i cut the sqare hole for the inlet on it, then i welded a ring thats 3in diameter and about 1 in long to it. i drilled 4 holes in the flat flang and it bolted right up to the AFM. so i got the cone filter on. i still got the problem of the inlet on the intake manifold is 3.5(diameter) in and the outlet on the AFM is 2.75(diameter). how would i address that?
thx for your help iotus and jimmdog

U can get the HKS intake for the 2nd gen, go to home depot get some gasket material (its like 3 mil thick rubber). Match it up to cut a gasket (the second gen intake adapter is slightly larger), and then attach your cone filter to that. I think I am going run more piping from the maf to relocate my filter under the header panel, so I can get cold air. using the bulkhead between the radiator and the front of the car is something I think could work.
