There is an air/fuel adjustment on the passenger side strut tower. There are the letters "R' and "L" on each side. If you turn the screw counter clockwise you will lean out the mixture and clockwise is to richen it. Unless someone has messed with this screw/adjustment, I doubt that this is your problem. If the car is running fairly well but is just running a bit rich, I would look into checking the water temp sensor to see if it is bad. Give me some more info as to how the car is running, and I can help you more. How does it idle? How is the throttle response/acceleration?

Mike

You will more than likely need to scrape off some sealant off of the adjustment screw.

Yes, check the coolant temp sensor. If the car thinks that it is always cold, then it will always run rich and get terrible mileage. This is not the same sensor that the temp gauge reads from.

Also, take a look at the seal around the tail lights. This is a common issue and will cause fumes to be sucked into the cabin. Good luck...

well the car runs very cool..and i tried to adjust by the resistor on the strut tower on the passenger side and frankly i dont think the resistor is good....did the light thing and nothing had changed. neither light went off.

the car has a rebuild motor that needs to be tightened up.(oil is seeping through the front plate) got to pull the motor, take off the fly wheel and tighten her up a little.(going to but in 20/50 this weekend.i think it has 10/30 from what the previous ower stated..it runs cool but i will try what you suggested anyway. exhust is good. oil pressure is a little low (doesnt pass 60) i think it because of the little leak, car starts fine everytime.idles fine, response feels ok a little slow on pick up 1st gear 4000rpm 20mph/// 2nd 4000rpm 40mph//3rd 4000rpm about 55mph...my last baby picked up better. not to much clutch slippage. the car just feels a little sluggish.

Check for fuel leaks. I found one on mine today. I had been smelling raw fuel at idle. Popped the hood and found a tiny pin hole stream spraying out by the carburetor. Could cause a fire if your unlucky.
