Drifters To Sway or Not to sway??

So Getting pretty close to Ordering my suspension goodies. And Im wanting to know from the driftStars out there with FB's (or SA's) should i run aftermarket sway bar or not?(In the rear)? I would like to hear opinions from both sides, people who do and dont.

From what ive heard i know quite a few AutoX'ers run without them in the rear with great sucess. this is what made me think of this. Anywho. please share.

Removing the rear bar will reduce oversteer, which might make it harder to get the car into the slide. I would think that an adjustable rear bar would be the way to go, allowing you to adjust the over/under steer characteristics of the car.

In addition to this, I would recommend Illumina shocks/struts to further help "balance" the car. This is where you begin to be able to control the slide, once you get it started.

I dont have a rear sway bar, and it is easier for me to control oversteer. It might take more work to get the rear out tho.

Doesn't everyone say it depends on if you have an aftermarket front or not.

From what ive read from ALOT of people (pretty sure kentetsu was one along with other racers). For racing at least, stock front = remove rear, aftermarket front = put rear back on.

You may have to fab your own but an adjustable link sounds like a great answer. Dont know it youve seen the adjustables for the FC but thats the idea. the link from the sway bar end to the body.

Now for technique, it really depends on your "drift type" it seems that track drift could live without it. the "Go kart" suspension is great for the track and some lots.

But if you get into elevation changes or uneven pavement you wont survive. Then you throw in the fact that THE FB cannot be lowered much to comp for body roll.

So it depends on your type,
touge your gonna need every inch of FB design, (basicly)
The track requires power, lots of air and a stiff body. (basicly)

my suspension is soft and old as Mcain's *****. but its still impressive. Once I throw in some polyurathane and struts and springs (nope, no coilovers) the FB will be the best of both worlds.

If you have an aftermarket front then go aftermarket rear
respeeds look killer and heaps lighter, im gonna get Billy to ship me some to OZ
they got the killer adj links too
If not then leave it all alone...
Ive had my Rx7 for 10odd years now
it was my daily drifter for years, gotta luv the Adelaide hills SA where i live..
years ago we used to call drifting "synchronised sideways" after you guys in the US were kind enough to introduce synchronised swimming to the world at olympics in Atlanta 96,
so i have gone right thru the suspn on my car over the years,
every ball joint tierod, bush and bearing in the whole car were replaced new
I had my rear sway bar off for a while once.......too scary in high speed tight corners, it lets go when u dont expect and lets go way too far...
and while changing direction its big and loafy n slow on the ***....
makes it more like ya mums family wagon
which for drifting isnt really good
Mazda engineering really is pretty decent from std......except when ya lower **** wildly, creates more important issues with rear suspn

and like Yellow said, For Gods sakes don't go lowering it much. There are certain cars that cant be lowered, Neon, WRX, and evo to name a few. A little is fine, 1-2in after that you start counter acting suspension travel and performance. Here's my favorite vid. It does have coil overs & the front end stays clean and planted even when Keiichi forgets its a 1900lb mazda not a 4000lbs Nissan and hammers the brakes and locks the front 3 times.
