Angry Ahhhh! A NEW problem!

Well, I put exactly 100 miles on the car since i got it, and things are starting to fall apart. I was cruising along on the highway, when I heard a scraping sound.. I pulled off and looked underneath the car. There is a thin metal pipe that connects from the side of the cat, to the back of the engine that rusted off. What the heck is this thingy, and can I remove it without affecting anything?

Thanks,
Matt

If it's a think pipe to the cat, then it's probably from the air pump... It's for emissions control--your cat needs oxygen to be able to convert CO to CO2, etc... I'm not sure what will happen if it falls off, your cat may get clogged or somethin

Hope that helps...

The thin pipe supplies fresh air to the cat from the airpump via an air control valve located on the lower intake manifold.

So if it's not connected, will it hurt my motor at all?? I don't have a welder or anything, so I can't really put it back. Let me know what I should do.

Thanks,
Matt

Thats the spilt air pipe. If you leave it unhooked, you'll have an exhaust leak.

Well since I have a standard 12A, that won't hurt my performance will it? I'm planning on getting something to replace my exhaust soon, but I need to wait for more $ unless someone has a cheap solution.

Thanks,
Matt

LOL, sounds like mine.

Yeah, its a to help convet the "fumes". I have mine just blowing air in to the great out doors. It actully sounds funny when you press on the gas to go (choke in). You can hear it, it's almost like a turbos blow off valve.
