ah, the status of my poor SE

my 85 GSL-SE has been in storage for the last couple years. I have started it up a couple times a month and put about 600 km on it in that time. unfortunately i have to store it outside and while it has been covered most of that time, not always.

took it to a garage yesterday to have a funky electrical problem tracked down (and an oil change for the hell of it)....this is it's sad status report......

electrical problem found....crappy aftermarket fog light wiring. Fixed.
brakes...front pads at 60% rotors rusted to hell and back, rear brakes almost metal to metal on passenger rear, drv side not far behind.... suspension: pretty much shot springs are at least 12 years old if not the originals, same with rear shocks , front struts replaced 5 or 6 years ago (it's SUPPOSED to ride like that honey, its a sports car ) . exhaust is starting to rot, cat is dead (1 emmision test left and was due last April, guess who is driving around ghetto style with multiple trip permits :P ) and the clear coat is starting to come off on the flat spots (hood, roof, rear deck) ....and the stereo sucks! (stock one in my brand new Jeep TJ kicks it's ***, i can't beleive i ever thought it sounded good!)

so to get it back into fighting condition i just need a couple simple things....brakes,suspension,emissions,paint, and a gas tank to boot (leaking)

driving it home today, some guy stopped me and asked if i wanted to sell it, that made my day!

uh, i didn't sell it.....cause i'm retarded, or i love it too much, or something like that.....be nice to your RX-7 ~

It sucks when you have to store it outside....
Your was in better condition then mine ever was.
Here's to hoping the 7 recovers. Mine went to the rotary gods (and some other forum members) by means of parting it out.

I feel ya man... Mines been in outside storage since fall 2001...

If only I had more cash and a place to actually work on it.

"What? They want me to pay rent AGAIN?!? I paid them last month!"

the worst part is the engine bay, it used to be pretty clean looking, now it looks like ****. just from simply not driving it every day anymore. well, it's a perfect project car now because the body/frame are still in great shape (except for the paint i mentioned) and it needs everything you would replace on a stock car to make it cool anyways

i just need to convince my dad to get rid of the rotting 64 galaxy (4 door) in his garage and i can store it there inside for once!

damn, Krown is already booked for weeks around here! looks like another trip permit for me, almost cheaper than getting the drive-clean done!

thats true....but Foose would know what to do with it! We have another show here called Tuner Transformation that does the same type of thing but not as extreme. They will do all the performance stuff and not so much messing around with the body etc... maybe i can convince them to do one. Their first show was an RX-8 and they are looking for 'unique' vehicles........ maybe i'll win the lottery too
