Aftermarket steering wheels
Aftermarket steering wheels
I would like to know which aftermarket steering wheels you guys are running? Also how difficult was the installation of the the steering wheel? I am thinking about upgrading my steering wheel to a smaller one for road racing.
i have a generic ugly woodgrain steering wheel (supposedly made in Italy), slightly smaller than stock. The only reason I went for this is because it was free, and now I have clearance to "heel and toe". I'm 6'2", so my knees used to hit the OEM wheel.
My only advice is to get a quality steering wheel adapter.... I got mine on ebay for about $10, but it feels like there is some play.
If you have power steering, I'd say "go for it". In my case, I don't. therefore, the smaller diameter wheel seems a lot heavier. it's a nightmare to parallel park with sticky tires.

i need to get a smaller wheel cause im 6'3'' and the stock one has about 1/4'' of space around my leg ive had my hand get stuck between the two on a track event. the fc hub adapters work on the fb right?

where did you get that e brake handle. i went ahead an ordered on for a fc so guess i will find out. i am 6'3 and there was no room to move wheel without hittingmy knee. i had to press the clutch down just to get my right leg in lol
I ended up getting it from a local speed shop's yearly MOMO sale lol. I learned a few things from the experience and will never be going back there again.
You should be able to pick up the same wheel off ebay (make sure it's the real thing) or from a local speedshop that carries momo items. I really like the 320mm version (a bit smaller than stock but still large enough to help with turning).
I should also mention that you need to run an adapter to use this steering wheel, IIRC it is the same as the 2nd gen adapter and MOMO makes one. You should also be able to find it at a local speedshop.

I stuck with the RX theme and ran a J-spec FD Infini steering wheel. The J-spec wheels dont have airbags,so it was a straight bolt on,no adaptors and the signal cancel still works.Only the horn contact ring didnt work out.
Its not very small diameter, close to stock in fact. But it fits me well, has a nice thick grip and it looks great!

How did you get the horn working? Here's what I'm gonna put on eventually:
I am going the momo route as well. Not because I am tall but man being a fat *** is hard getting in and out! So...yeah the extra clearance will be appreciated!
another question for those with steering wheels as this has been buggin me. Once you installed your steering wheel...do you already have or...did you TINT YOUR WINDOWS for SECURITY REASONS? I ask because...as you all know...a clean FB is pretty much a moving target for a$$hole thieves. So when you park your baby and have NO TINT..and they can see that nice Momo race steering wheel in there is that a security risk? I am getting use to NOT having tint on my ride..but as soon as I install my momo stuff I was going to get tint immediately.

I have a momo wheel in one of my FB's. Just bought a basically stock FB, and, being 6'5" tall, I need a bit more clerance between my legs and my wheel. I'm going to be sourcing a better looking MOMO Wheel when I get some more money (I'm not a fan of the ricer "NOS" (I can't tell you how many times i've been asked "DOES THAT THING HAVE NAWSSSSS?) buttons).
No tint on the fronts here, but the rear 3 windows are limo black. Car isn't going to be left anywhere (way too much invested to risk it), so I hope theft isn't an issue.
