So I got some racing style pedal pads from Autozone for $20. My stock pedals were small and the rubber was all worn off of them so I got these. Well I was on my way home from the wrecking yard, passing a car when all the sudden vrooooooom!!! My tach was pegged and so was my accelerator pedal. It was stuck on a piece of carpet. I turned the key to shut the car off as soon as I could think to. I looked in my mirrors and all I could see was smoke! It was at 9-10k for about a second or two. Holy crap I thought I blew a seal, but it made it home to cool off just fine. I let it idle in the driveway a good 5 minutes before shutting it off to cool it down. The car is fine now but I just thought I would share this with you guys. I know I'm a dumbass I should be more careful. lol

Ricer products like pedal pads don't usually make your car faster (or engine rev higher), but now it seems they actually sometimes do.

 

i think those ricer pads are junk. you can order new oem rubber pads from mazdatrix for around $6. stick with those.

 

hmm ive heard of pedal pads that were a little offset, or bigger on the side so that u could rev match easier. has anyone heard of these and/or know where ot buy them?

 

pedal covers properly installed and without a mat to get in the way can actually help your driving. i remember thinking they were very ricey too, til talking to a trainer at the local track who uses them because of the wider surface area to use your pedals. i've tried a few sets of them and honestly i don't tell that much of a difference but it is nicer to have a slightly larger brake pedal.

I'll post some pics tomarrow (sat.) I think I might have blown an oil seal. I went to start it yesterday and it smoked ALOT during warmup. Today it was'nt to bad though I had it up near 5000 rpms and it didn't seem to smoke much at all. I could have just had a little blow by. Lets hope so anyway.

its way bigger than stock and easier to drive and drift with hah.

 

I like to heel toe everywhere I go, I just prefer to stay in gear, and have control over my car. Those paddles really make a big difference. They are not just ricy, there is a reason why they are called performance paddles, momo makes pretty good ones.

 

I bought these Pedals from Autovation for $69.00US shipped.
Easy to install and no way they are going to slip anywhere since they are screwed in.
I was alittle concerned about foot slippage since they are Aluminum w/no rubber but I have never had my foot slip at all no matter how hard I use them.
Well built plus you get the Rotor Emblem.
10,000+ miles on them and they still look new.
They are wider than stock so Big Footers will love them.
My shoe size is 13 if that tells ya's anything.

these pedals are car specific. you cant beat that. i need to install mine.

 

I was going to get those if I didn't find a descent set at Autozone. I ended up finding these for $20 and they don't seem to be to bad. If you look closely you can see where I cut away at that carpet.

 

I prefer the pedal pads for autocross, where I heel-toe a lot. (As best I know how anyway... man I feel like a ricer just saying that....) But I didn't think you need to cut any carpet... IMHO.

What I did was take the rubber off the gas pedal, took two self-tapping screws and counter-sunk them into the pedal cover, then screwed them to the original metal gas pedal at an angle where my gas pedel cleared the carpet. It'll never come off, and I don't need to hack into my carpet. Doesn't ruin the look of the pedal cover if you find screws that match the ones already in it. Unless, of course you drill them off center cuz I'm an idiot...
