Aftermarket oil cooler questions
I asked this in my project thread and searched high and low but, I'm going to ask again. My problem is my beehive oil cooler has become an oil leak, after searching and weighing the options and price points I think I may have a decent cost effective solution to my bee hive leak problem, through a search on summit racing I found this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-3951/ it seems to meet the criteria in size a capacity as well as this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-3953/ the later is a bit bigger and rated as a high performance cooler with the former being a standard, I have also searched ebay for fc coolers as well but this seems like it may be a usable solution. Both (that I have listed) use a sandwich adapter and come as a kit so my question is are either acceptable for use with a rotary and can I use the sandwich adapter?

The story goes that nothing compares to the cooling capabilities of the factory front mount oil coolers. If you take a good look at pics of those ones you posted versus a factory cooler, you'll notice how substantial the factory coolers are. They are about two inches thick and as wide as the radiator. They also use end tanks like a rad so there is always some oil in there and every extra bit of oil capacity helps. You might want to call some rad shops and tell them what your looking for. Going custom might be more expensive than the Summit coolers, but it may end up cheaper than the factory cooler while doing the same job. Keep in mind our engine exhaust can reach upwards of 1300*F, while a piston engine doesn't get near that. There is a reason Mazda put such a large cooler on the RX-7. It needs it. Those ones are just to be added to piston cars as insurance.

the beehive has a couple of orings in it, so you might want to just replace the o rings. its not too hard, but it is messy.
