Unhappy Aftermarket gas tank

My gas tank is full of rust and i need a new one bad. I heard acid dipping can sometimes have holes left in it. I was wandering if anybody knew where to get an after market one at at a reasonable price???

you are going to have to see if you can find one either here on the for sale board, thepartstrader.com, or in the local classifieds.

you can not get a tank from the junk yard they have to be removed for safty reasons.

and aftermarket tanks or "cells" are way to damn expencive.

I took mine to a radiator shop. They were able to clean and recoat it, as well as patch the pinhole that had developed under the support strap. Total damage was about $100, not including the new sending unit I ended up buying to go with the job.

This cleans the tank and then seals it.

I bought mine brand new from Mazda, 550$ CAN, since all the other shops I went to told me my old gas tank was way too rusted to be repaired. No more RX7s in junk yards here either.

Find a used one. In your part of the world that shouldnt be difficult. Theres plenty of club members in your area. Post this in the South Rx7 area. I bet you can find one from a local member there.

now a days, most SOcal junkyards no longer sell gas tanks. you will see a big hole in the bottom of the bank.

I still can't understand why they don't sell cats either? Doesn't make sense, if the cat works, it works, if not you fail the test and look for another cat.

most big yards cut holes in the tanks. The local pullapart here in Ga does it. It is a shame, I found a 64 ford f100 in the yard and was going to pull the tank, I start looking at it and they cut a hole using a screw driver and a hammer.

i think the theory on cats is it may work for a short time just enough to pass smog but a few weeks later it may not and make more smog.

either that or they just want more tax money from having to buy a new one.

and the gastank i think there afraid if theres any remnets of gas it can posibly catch fire.

and another thing! whats with tax on selling your car! wtf do you have to get taxed when you buy a car, and the person selling it will be taxed. i think it should only be taxed once. a car can get taxed every time its sold its a shame. i bet theres a cars out there were over its life time the tax from the car being sold is above the value of the car twice over! BAH tax sucks.

and yes i cant spell
